$26,000 Donated to Backpack Nation
Here is an update from Brad Newsham at Backpack Nation. We hope you check out the great stories that were chosen and vote.
Dear Friends,
Since September 11, 2002, three hundred and fifty Backpack Nation supporters have donated $26,000 to help "transform the West's 2-3 million independent travelers into an army of global ambassadors, emissaries of peace, a roving force for good - and thereby help to save our world."
Our representatives have been channeling that money (usually in $1,000 chunks) to compelling situations they have encountered in the world's poorer countries.
Exactly $4,000 remains.
During April and May, you are invited to please read the twelve touching Phase Three stories and vote for your favorites.
Shortly after June 1, 2005, I will send a check for $1,000 to the authors of each of the top four vote getting stories -- for them to distribute.
