Nepal Crisis

"The royal government plunged Nepal into a communications blackout Friday-the country's annual celebration of democracy-cutting phone service to thwart opposition activists trying to organize nationwide protests against the king's seizure of power earlier this month."

When I first heard about what was going on in Nepal in the beginning of the month, it reminded me of the first time the media started talking about the Taliban... it may be a bad comparison but that was my first thought.

This crisis doesn't seem to be very popular in US media so like me, you probably haven't heard much about it. If you're interested in learning more, Newsdesk.org has great coverage of the Nepal crisis

I really like Newsdesk.org and their "News You Might Have Missed" newsletter because it includes great reports on less covered news.

Check out their archives, you can also subscribe for the free newsletter.
